Plus Energy Building Technical University Vienna
Getreidemarkt 9, 1060 Vienna
The Plus Energy Tower of the TU Vienna is the first office tower worldwide with the claim to feed more energy into the power grid than is needed for building operation AND use. In two years of work, the former Chemistry Tower of the TU Vienna was completely renovated.
The core point for achieving the plus energy standard was the extreme reduction of energy consumption in all areas and components in the building, from heating and cooling to IT workstations and small electrical components. Over 9,300 components from 280 categories were listed, optimised and approved by the research team in the project. The basis is an improved passive house envelope and passive house ventilation system.
